Instructional Design/School Media

Below are the assignments for Dr. Melissa Johnston's Instructional Design course (LS 542), as part of the School Media track at the School of Library and Information Studies.

Hartznell Needs Assessment & Jung Analysis presentation using Web 2.0 Tools
The goals of this mini-project were to increase intrapersonal intelligence (to know ourselves better) and to consider and celebrate aspects of our personalities that influence our work as collaborating school librarians. The assignment consisted of completing the Hartzell “Needs Assessment”, the Jung Typology Test and drafting a storyboard using Web 2.0 tools to create a portrait of ourselves for an in-class presentation.

Inquiry Based Research Method Presentation
A partnered project with a classmate. The goals of this persuasive presentation assignment were to increase our understanding of inquiry-based learning and other research models that are used in school libraries and classrooms today. After investigating various inquiry and research processes, one was choosen from among them on which to base this assignment. We developed a K-W-L-Q Chart based on what we know, want to learn, learn, and further questions, as prewriting for this assignment. The assignment gave us the opportunity to use a wiki (or Google Docs) for collaboration, K-W-L-Q as a prewriting tool, and a Web 2.0 tool for presenting our learning.
